What is texlyre?

TeXlyre is a local-first collaborative web editor for LaTeX and Typst documents. It enables real-time multi-user editing with live cursors using Yjs CRDTs and WebRTC peer-to-peer connections, works offline with IndexedDB storage, and compiles LaTeX (pdfTeX, XeTeX, LuaTeX via SwiftLaTeX and BusyTeX WASM engines) and Typst (via typst.ts) entirely in the browser. Features include SyncTeX source-PDF mapping, inline comments and tracked changes, embedded Draw.io and TikZ diagram editors, Zotero/OpenAlex reference management, FilePizza peer-to-peer file sharing, LSP support for grammar/spell checking, and Git repository backup integration. It can be self-hosted via npm/yarn/pnpm/bun or Docker Compose using the texlyre-infrastructure repository which includes signaling servers (Y-WebRTC, PeerJS), FilePizza server, TeX Live download servers, and optional Chelys recipes for external LSP servers (LTeX LS Plus, Harper LS, TexLab, Tinymist, JabRef LSP) and typesetters (SILE, ConTeXt, PreTeXt, TeX Live, Asciidoctor, Quarto, LilyPond, Slidev, Sphinx). The project is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and funded by NLnet.
