What is StoreDown?

StoreDown is a personal inventory Progressive Web App that helps you organize and find items using a responsive, touch-friendly interface. It runs entirely in the browser and can function offline thanks to PouchDB, with optional multi-device sync via a self-hosted CouchDB instance. Features include full-text search, UPC barcode scanning, customizable fields, tagging, and data export/import in JSON, YAML, and CSV formats. Deployment options include Docker, Docker Compose, or simple static hosting on any web server. The app uses a local-first architecture where your data stays on your devices unless you configure CouchDB synchronization.

FAQ

I don't like xyz about StoreDown, do you know of any alternatives?

The author suggests InvenTree and Grocy as alternative self-hosted inventory systems.

So you read "Don't store up" and built an inventory system?

Tracking what you have is different from hoarding; it enables seeing when items were last used and avoids over-consumption.

Why not just use a spreadsheet?

Spreadsheets work poorly on mobile devices, and StoreDown offers customization like UPC barcode search that spreadsheets lack.
