ghcr.io/goduni/unissh-serverWhat is UniSSH?
UniSSH is a cross-platform SSH client (macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android) with end-to-end encrypted vaults that sync through a self-hosted server. The client works completely offline with local vaults — no account or server required. When you want multi-device sync or team sharing, you can self-host the zero-knowledge sync server via Docker Compose with Caddy for automatic TLS. Features include SSH key management, SFTP, tunnels (local, remote, dynamic SOCKS5), fleet operations (multi-host exec, broadcast), session recording as encrypted asciicast, snippets, and import/export of SSH configs and PuTTY sessions. The server stores only ciphertext and routing metadata — it cannot decrypt vault data. Built with a shared Rust core (SQLCipher, russh), Tauri v2 + React clients, and an optional admin web panel.
Should you self-host UniSSH?
UniSSH scores 47/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #3 of 6 in SSH. It has 143 GitHub stars.
It shipped 10 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v0.6.1, came out on 16 October 2026. New versions land roughly every 5 days.
Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is Apache-2.0-licensed and written mostly in Rust.
Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is Termix (76/100, 15 704 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See UniSSH vs Termix side by side.
