chuckcharlie/cups-avahi-airprintWhat is cups-avahi-airprint?
This Alpine-based Docker container runs a CUPS printing server paired with Avahi to advertise printers via mDNS/DNS-SD. It bridges non-AirPrint network printers so they appear automatically on iPhones, iPads, and Macs. A built-in script creates Apple configuration profiles that let devices print over direct IPP connections, useful across VLANs or VPN tunnels. The container requires host networking for multicast discovery and serves its web admin on port 631. Settings such as admin credentials, advertised hostname, and timezone come from environment variables. Printer definitions and self-signed certificates persist in a mounted /config directory. The codebase originated as a fork of quadportnick/docker-cups-airprint.
