What is Switch?

Switch is a self-hosted platform that connects AI coding agents to team chat applications so humans and agents collaborate in shared channels. It does not provide its own agents or models; instead it acts as a bridge letting any compatible agent join conversations in popular chat apps. Each channel becomes a room where people and agents work together with shared context, decisions, and documents. The platform includes Switch Console, a desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux that manages the local Docker-based server and agent connections. For teams, Switch can be deployed to remote Linux or macOS hosts via SSH. The server requires PostgreSQL and bundles Mattermost for local development. Authentication supports built-in email/password and optional OIDC/SSO. The code is licensed under Apache 2.0 with the Commons Clause, making it source-available but restricting commercial resale. Switch also offers paid products Switch Trust (agent safety evaluation) and Switch ROI (cost tracking).
