What is mosparo?

mosparo is a modern spam protection tool for web forms that replaces traditional CAPTCHAs with content-based filtering. It analyzes form submissions against configurable rules to detect spam, similar to email spam filters. The system is designed to be accessible (no puzzles), privacy-focused (only collects form data, IP, and user agent), and self-hosted. Key capabilities include customizable checkbox design, automatic data encryption and deletion after 14 days, honeypot fields, minimum submission time enforcement, rate limiting, proof-of-work challenges, multi-project support, remote rule imports, and GeoIP2 integration. It runs on PHP 8.1+ with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL/SQLite and can be deployed via Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, or traditional web hosting. The project is maintained by the non-profit mosparo Association.
