nobbe/ignisWhat is Ignis?
Ignis is a self-hosted server that runs Obsidian in a web browser by translating Electron APIs into browser-compatible equivalents. It downloads Obsidian from the official source at runtime and serves it through a Docker container. Users get the full Obsidian experience — editor, canvas, command palette, themes, and most community plugins — while their vault stays on their own hardware. Ignis adds features like multi-vault support with live sync across tabs, file upload/download, opening vaults/workspaces/notes by URL, and a mobile-friendly UI. It has no built-in authentication, so a reverse proxy or VPN is required for remote access. The project is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and actively developed.

Ignis README
Run Obsidian in the browser. No remote desktop required.
Ignis is a compatibility shim that provides browser-compatible implementations of the Electron APIs used by Obsidian, allowing Obsidian to run in a standard browser while keeping your vault on the server. Obsidian is not included in or distributed with this project. The Docker container downloads Obsidian directly from its official source on first run.
