What is disco-daemon?
The Disco Daemon is the backend agent for the Disco platform. It runs on your Linux server to manage apps, automate deployments, and handle infrastructure. A REST API allows the Disco CLI and web dashboard to control projects. Docker Swarm orchestrates containers for zero-downtime rollouts, while Caddy provides automatic HTTPS via Let's Encrypt. Configuration and state are stored in a local SQLite database. A single installation script sets up Docker, the daemon, and Caddy. The API listens on port 6543. GitHub webhooks or API calls trigger deployments where the daemon builds container images, deploys to Swarm, and updates Caddy routing. The codebase is MIT licensed and operated via the Disco CLI.
Should you self-host disco-daemon?
