What is YourMemory?
YourMemory equips AI agents with long-term memory that evolves like a human brain. It pulls durable facts from conversations, merges related items into concise summaries, and applies a biologically-inspired forgetting curve so unimportant details fade while frequently-recalled knowledge stays strong. An entity graph connects memories through shared people, places, and concepts, surfacing relevant context you didn't explicitly request. The system includes a tamper-proof audit log, team memory pools with private and shared scopes, and data-rights endpoints for export and deletion. It runs locally with zero-setup DuckDB (PostgreSQL optional), works with any MCP client like Claude or Cursor, and includes a web dashboard at localhost:3033. Licensed CC-BY-NC-4.0 — free for personal and research use, commercial use needs a separate agreement.
Should you self-host YourMemory?
YourMemory scores 45/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #138 of 209 in AI Agents. It has 270 GitHub stars.
It shipped 4 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v1.4.26, came out on 25 May 2026. New versions land roughly every 9 days.
Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. It is Other-licensed and written mostly in Python.
Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is Orca (91/100, 108 446 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See YourMemory vs Orca side by side.
