What is StackRender?

StackRender helps developers design database schemas through a visual entity-relationship diagram editor. The drag-and-drop interface lets you create tables, define columns, set up relationships, and add indexes. You can import existing schemas from SQL DDL files across six major database dialects, then export production-ready DDL for any of them. The application automatically detects schema changes and creates versioned migration scripts with corresponding rollback scripts. An AI assistant (available in the cloud edition) can generate initial schema designs from natural language descriptions. The software runs as a web application and is distributed under the AGPL-3.0 license. Self-hosting options include Docker Compose, plain Docker, or a Node.js development server. The project is currently in public beta with version 1.4.0 released in mid-2026.
