What is MineOS?

MineOS is a Node.js web interface for managing Minecraft servers. The dashboard lets administrators create and control servers, watch live console output, issue commands, schedule backups and restores with cron, edit server.properties, and track disk and memory usage in real time. It works with vanilla Mojang jars, Feed The Beast modpacks, PocketMine PHAR files, and BungeeCord proxies. Setup means cloning the repo, generating an SSL certificate, and running npm install; the service can be managed by systemd, Upstart, or Supervisor. User login relies on the host's /etc/shadow file, so root access is required. The code is GPL-3.0 licensed and has been verified on Debian, Ubuntu, Arch Linux, and FreeBSD.

Should you self-host MineOS?

MineOS scores 45/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #46 of 62 in Game Servers. It has 364 GitHub stars.

There was no stable release in the past 12 months, so check the repository's recent activity before you rely on it.

Setup is advanced: plan for several services and some ongoing maintenance. It is GPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in JavaScript.

Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is minecraft (78/100, 14 491 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See MineOS vs minecraft side by side.
