What is Leed?

Leed is a minimalist feed aggregator for RSS and ATOM that you host yourself on a standard LAMP stack. It needs PHP 7.2+, MySQL, and Apache (recommended). Feed updates run in the background via cron — either a local PHP script or a remote wget call with a token — so the web UI stays fast. The layout adapts to desktop, tablet, and phone screens. Feeds can be imported and exported in OPML format, and extra features come from plugins in the official Leed-market repository. Installation: download a release, place it in a web folder, run the install.php wizard, delete that file, and optionally add a cron entry. Licensed under AGPL-3.0.

Should you self-host Leed?

Leed scores 48/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #37 of 85 in Feed Reader. It has 235 GitHub stars.

It shipped 5 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v1.16.0, came out on 28 October 2026. New versions land roughly every 3 months.

Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. It is AGPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in PHP.

Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is RSSHub (85/100, 46 704 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See Leed vs RSSHub side by side.
