xiovv/go-auto-ytWhat is Golty?
Golty (also known as go-auto-yt) is a self-hosted YouTube archiving tool that automatically downloads videos from channels and playlists you subscribe to. You add a channel URL, set a checking interval, and the service periodically checks for new uploads and downloads them using youtube-dl. The web dashboard is a single page where you can add channels, configure what to download (video, audio, or both), set check intervals, and trigger immediate checks. It runs as a Go binary or Docker container, storing downloads and config in mounted volumes. The project is in beta (v0.5.1) with a v2 rewrite in progress; features like login, notifications, and resolution selection are on the roadmap but not yet implemented. No authentication is currently built in, so it should be placed behind a reverse proxy for internet exposure.
