What is Excludarr?

Excludarr is a command-line utility for home media server users who want to keep their Radarr and Sonarr libraries lean by automatically excluding movies and TV series that are available on configured streaming services. It can either delete entries from Radarr/Sonarr or set them to not monitored, optionally removing the downloaded files to reclaim disk space. A re-add command restores monitoring when content leaves streaming platforms. The tool runs on-demand or on a schedule via Docker Compose with cron mode, uses JustWatch for availability data with an optional TMDB fallback, and requires Python 3.6+ or Docker. The project is no longer maintained; the author recommends Prunarr as a modern replacement.

Should you self-host Excludarr?

Excludarr scores 43/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #111 of 142 in Media Management. It has 232 GitHub stars.

There was no stable release in the past 12 months, so check the repository's recent activity before you rely on it.

Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is MIT-licensed and written mostly in Python.

Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is Sonarr (81/100, 17 472 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See Excludarr vs Sonarr side by side.

FAQ

Does excludarr still support Sonarr V2?

No, Sonarr V2 is end-of-life and not supported; upgrade to Sonarr V3.

How can I know what providers I can use in the configuration file?

Run the excludarr providers list command to see all available providers for your locale.

Can I also exclude movies and series from being processed by Excludarr?

Yes, by using the exclude setting in the configuration file under the radarr and sonarr sections.

When excluding series there are no seasons or episodes displayed, what will excludarr do?

If no seasons or episodes are displayed, Excludarr will disable monitoring of the series if it is not ended yet. For ended series with delete action, it deletes the whole series; with not-monitored action, it disables monitoring of the whole series.

Where is the check command?

The check command has been replaced by the re-add command.

I used the --legacy flag before, where can I find it in excludarr v1.0.0?

Excludarr now automatically falls back to the legacy delete option if a bulk delete is not possible.
