What is anuraOS?
AnuraOS is a browser-based operating system and development environment that emulates a full Linux system using v86. It runs entirely client-side as a Progressive Web App, working offline with a virtual filesystem synced to the Linux emulator. The project includes a code editor, a modular app system with its own marketplace, and a desktop interface visually inspired by ChromeOS. Users can run it locally by building from source with 'make server' (serving on port 8000) or use the hosted demo at anura.pro. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and developed by Mercury Workshop. The system supports themes, mobile platforms, and allows live editing of its own code.
