What is vue-salt-rim?

Salt Rim is a Vue 3 web client that connects to a self-hosted Bar Assistant server instance. It provides a beautiful UI for managing cocktail recipes, ingredients, shopping lists, menus, and more. It builds to static files that can be hosted anywhere, or run via Docker. Features include dark theme, PWA support, multi-language, QR code generation, and powerful search and filtering. The self-hosted edition is free and MIT-licensed, while the cloud service offers paid tiers.

FAQ

Where do I find more recipes?

Community databases at zhdenny/bar_assistant_database and bar-assistant/data on GitHub, or import from officially supported sites like PunchDrink, Imbibe, Liquor.com, etc.

Where can I find API documentation?

Visit /docs path on your API instance, e.g., https://your-bar-api-server.com/docs

How do I check logs?

Use docker compose logs bar-assistant and docker compose logs salt-rim. Some logs are also in /var/www/cocktails/storage/logs/laravel.log inside the container.

How do I update Meilisearch?

Either delete the Meilisearch container and volume and recreate (easy way), or follow Meilisearch official dump/restore guide (proper way).

How do I backup my data?

Run the CLI command: docker compose exec bar-assistant php artisan bar:full-backup to create a full backup zip file.

How do I disable user registrations?

Set the ALLOW_REGISTRATION environment variable to false.

Why is my site search / ingredient search not working?

Search tokens may be outdated or indexes empty after Meilisearch update. Force update tokens and sync indexes.

Why am I missing some features in web app?

Browser caching may cause missing features. Try another browser or incognito mode. Some features require HTTPS context (clipboard API, screen wake lock).

Why do I get "Resource not found" error when accessing Bar Assistant through a reverse proxy?

The reverse proxy is forwarding the full path including the prefix instead of stripping it. The application expects requests without the path prefix.

Why do I get "Unable to connect to X API server." on a login page?

The client cannot reach the API server. Check that the API server is running and reachable from your browser.
