What is Vicoa?
Vicoa is an agentic IDE that orchestrates a team of coding agents — including Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and 30+ more via the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) — running them in parallel on your own machines (Mac, Windows, Linux, or remote servers) each on its own git worktree. You start sessions from the desktop app or CLI, then steer them from the web dashboard or native iOS/Android apps with real-time sync, push notifications, inline diffs, a file browser, and a built-in terminal. The self-hosted stack runs in Docker Compose with a Next.js web frontend, a FastAPI backend (split into user-facing REST and agent-facing WebSocket servers), and PostgreSQL. Authentication uses a built-in email/password provider or optionally Supabase for social login and MFA. Vicoa is BYO-key: you bring your own agent subscriptions and API keys. The project is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and offers a free tier with paid Pro and Enterprise plans for the hosted service.
Should you self-host Vicoa?
Vicoa scores 51/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #94 of 209 in AI Agents. It has 524 GitHub stars.
It shipped 5 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v0.1.39, came out on 28 October 2026. New versions land roughly every 1 days.
Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. It is AGPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in Python.
Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is OpenWork (74/100, 24 298 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See Vicoa vs OpenWork side by side.

FAQ
What's the difference between the web app and mobile app?
Both provide the same core functionality: access to remote sessions, real-time updates, and notifications. Mobile apps offer native push notifications and a mobile-optimized interface; the web app works on any browser.
How do notifications work?
When your AI agent needs input (like confirming an action), Vicoa sends an instant push notification to your mobile device so you can respond from anywhere.
Can I share a session with someone who doesn't use Vicoa?
Yes. Create a share link from the session menu. Anyone with the link can follow the session live in their browser with no account needed. Links can be limited, set to expire, and revoked.
Can I use Vicoa with my existing projects?
Yes. Vicoa works with any project that Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode can work with. Just navigate to your project directory and run vicoa.
Do I need coding experience to use Vicoa?
No. Vicoa is made for people who use coding agents. If you can type ideas, tweak prompts, and run simple commands, you're good to go.
