What is sagetv?
SageTV is a DVR and media management system that Google released as open source under Apache-2.0. A central server handles TV tuners, recordings, and media libraries, while network clients — full desktop apps or lightweight mini-clients such as Placeshifter, hardware extenders, and an Android app — connect for playback and live TV. The UI is fully customizable through the SageTV Studio, a graph-based authoring tool. It runs on Windows and Linux, integrates with Schedules Direct for guide data, and supports closed captions and weather data. Builds on Linux produce Debian packages and tarballs; Windows requires Visual Studio 2005. Community forums host pre-built installers. Development has been quiet since the last tagged release in 2017.
