What is Monero P2Pool?
Monero P2Pool is a decentralized mining pool for Monero that operates without a central server. Instead of a traditional pool operator, P2Pool uses its own peer-to-peer blockchain to coordinate miners and distribute rewards directly via the PPLNS (Pay-Per-Last-N-Shares) scheme. This eliminates pool fees, custody risk, and centralization concerns. Miners run a P2Pool node alongside a Monero node (monerod) and connect their mining software (typically XMRig) to the local P2Pool instance. The software supports three sidechains (main, mini, nano) with different difficulty targets, merge mining with Tari and other chains, and privacy networks like Tor and I2P. It is configured entirely via command-line flags and runs on Linux, Windows, macOS, FreeBSD, and Android (Termux).
