What is lxd-dashboard?
lxd-dashboard is a web-based graphical interface for administering LXD containers and virtual machines. Created by LXDWARE, it lets operators connect to and control several LXD servers from one place. Core functions include spinning up containers and VMs via forms or JSON, handling instance power state and cloning, snapshot creation and rollback, live migration across cluster nodes, fetching remote images, managing profiles, networks, storage pools, volumes, and projects, switching between projects, opening a browser-based terminal into instances, exporting and downloading instance backups, and defining local accounts with role-based permissions. The stack runs on Ubuntu with NGINX and PHP, storing its own data in SQLite or MySQL. Deployment options are a Docker container (built from the supplied Dockerfile) or an LXC container. The code is AGPL-3.0 licensed; the most recent stable tag is v3.8.0 from August 2023.
Should you self-host lxd-dashboard?
