What is LetoReader?

LetoReader is a self-hosted speed reading application built with .NET Blazor that helps users read faster using Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) techniques. It presents text word-by-word or in chunks at a configurable speed, suppressing subvocalization and reducing eye fatigue. The app supports importing content from URLs, file uploads (PDF, Markdown, text, HTML, EPUB), clipboard, and HTTP request bodies. All data stays in the browser's local storage with no external API dependencies. It offers a focus mode for dyslexia/ADHD, eight customizable settings, and a minimal responsive UI. Deployment options include a Docker image (davidewiest/reader) listening on port 8080, or running directly with dotnet run. The project is licensed under GPL-3.0 and is currently in maintenance mode with Version 3 released in May 2024.
