What is KanVibe?
KanVibe is a keyboard-first desktop application for developers who work with AI coding assistants. It runs locally as an Electron app on macOS, Linux, and Windows, installed via Homebrew or built from source. The software registers git repositories, creates worktrees for task branches, and spawns tmux or zellij terminal sessions embedded in its browser-based UI. It connects to four major AI coding tools through their native hook systems to automatically move tasks through five statuses based on agent activity. Completed tasks trigger automatic cleanup of branches, worktrees, and terminal sessions. Key capabilities include a real-time drag-and-drop Kanban board, multi-project filtering, live AI session tracking with per-agent indicators, Vim-style keyboard navigation, subscription usage monitoring for AI accounts, GitHub-style diff viewing, configurable terminal pane layouts, browser notifications, and SSH remote terminal support. The app stores data in SQLite and requires git, tmux, and GitHub CLI as prerequisites.
