ghcr.io/kdlbs/kandevWhat is kandev?
Kandev is a self-hosted open-source platform for managing and coordinating AI coding assistants. It brings together agents like Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, and Gemini into one web-based workspace with kanban boards, a built-in code editor, terminal, and git diff viewer. Tasks run in isolated git worktrees so multiple agents can work in parallel without conflicts. You can execute agents locally, in Docker, on remote machines over SSH, or in cloud environments. The review workflow keeps humans in charge before any code is merged. The whole application packages as a single Go binary with the frontend embedded, so there's no separate Node.js server to run.
Should you self-host kandev?
kandev scores 58/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #50 of 166 in Developer Tools. It has 1 028 GitHub stars.
It shipped 27 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v0.98.0, came out on 23 October 2026. New versions land roughly every 1 days.
Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is AGPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in Go.
Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is openhands (87/100, 92 079 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See kandev vs openhands side by side.
