What is grokbuild-proxy?

grokbuild-proxy is a single-binary Go application that acts as a local protocol translation layer. It accepts Anthropic Messages API requests (used by Claude Code) and OpenAI Responses/Chat Completions API requests, then forwards them to the Grok backend after handling OAuth authentication, credential pooling, and request/response translation. Key capabilities include streaming SSE conversion, client function tools with parallel calls, Anthropic web_search tool mapping to Grok's built-in web search, JSON schema structured output mapping, thinking/effort parameter translation, encrypted reasoning replay across tool turns, multi-account credential management with sticky sessions and failover, optional SSO bulk import via a sidecar service, global and per-credential outbound proxy support, an embedded Admin Web UI for credential management and client key creation, health/readiness probes, and Prometheus metrics. It runs on loopback by default for security, stores credentials in local JSON files with file locking and atomic writes, and requires a personal Grok Build account. The project is pre-1.0 (v0.2.0) with known limitations like unimplemented count_tokens, non-portable thinking signatures, and upstream protocol instability.
