DockDash is a self-hosted dashboard for managing Docker containers and network services. It finds services from Docker daemons and Kubernetes clusters, scans IP ranges, and gives you an interactive map to draw service relationships. The standout feature is version-aware update checking: for pinned tags like 1.25, it checks the registry for compatible tags and tells you the real version jump (like 1.25 to 1.26) along with the GitHub release notes. For floating tags like latest, it falls back to digest comparison. You get health checks with uptime history, resource charts for CPU, memory, network and disk, container start/stop/restart, live log viewing, a file browser, and a terminal inside containers. Alerts go out through Apprise for failures, recoveries, and resource spikes. Login is optional via OIDC (Keycloak, Authentik, Authelia, Google) or put it behind a reverse proxy. The interface has multiple themes and comes in English and Brazilian Portuguese. Deploy with Docker Compose on port 3001, mount the Docker socket (or use a socket proxy for safety), and it stores data in SQLite.
Should you self-host DockDash?
DockDash scores 48/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #25 of 44 in Container Management. It has 201 GitHub stars.
It shipped 10 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v1.8.1, came out on 16 October 2026. New versions land roughly every 3 days.
Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is AGPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in Typescript.
Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is Portainer (77/100, 38 737 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See DockDash vs Portainer side by side.
