jeffpiazza/derbynet_serverWhat is DerbyNet?
DerbyNet is a self-hosted, open-source system for running Pinewood Derby and similar racing events. It operates a web server with a database that connects multiple browser-based stations: check-in desks that can capture photos, a main race screen with instant video replay, a coordinator dashboard for building schedules and controlling the race, and kiosk displays for on-deck, slideshow, and award presentations. A mobile check-in page works on phones. Scheduling uses a well-known partial-perfect algorithm with optional lane rotation. Results can be exported to CSV, XLSX, or ODS. Online balloting lets the audience vote on design awards, and live-streaming guidance is provided. The server runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, or a Raspberry Pi via Docker or native installers, with a free cloud-hosted alternative. Hardware timers connect through the cross-platform DerbyTimer or an in-browser Web Serial interface; SuperTimer II is experimentally supported. MySQL/MariaDB was dropped in favor of an embedded database.
