What is datum_gateway?
DATUM Gateway is a self-hosted Bitcoin mining gateway that gives miners control over block template creation using their own Bitcoin Core node. It offers two operating modes: pooled solo mining where rewards are shared through the encrypted DATUM protocol with a pool such as OCEAN, and pure solo mining without any pool. Mining hardware connects through Stratum v1 with version rolling for ASICBoost support. The gateway talks to Bitcoin Core via RPC for templates and to the pool via the custom DATUM protocol. A built-in web dashboard and JSON API run on port 7152. You can install it through OCEAN's Debian packages, Debian's official package, Docker, source builds with systemd, or a dedicated installer image. Requirements include a synced Bitcoin Core 29.0 or newer, roughly 1 GB RAM plus 1 GB per thousand Stratum clients, and Linux on x86-64 (FreeBSD and ARM64 also tested in CI). The code is MIT-licensed and maintained by Bitcoin Ocean, LLC and Jason Hughes.
