What is data-observability-installer?
DataKitchen Data Observability Installer is a command-line tool that sets up two open-source data products on your own infrastructure: TestGen, which profiles data, generates data quality tests, and monitors for anomalies; and Observability, which tracks data journeys across multi-tool pipelines and alerts on issues. The installer supports two modes — Docker Compose (recommended) for persistent team use, and a pip-based mode using uv and an embedded PostgreSQL for evaluation without Docker. Minimum requirements are 2 CPUs, 8 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk. TestGen exposes a Streamlit UI on port 8501 and an API/MCP endpoint on 8530; Observability serves its UI on port 8082. Both products are Apache 2.0 licensed and maintained by DataKitchen.
