What is Breeze?

Breeze is an IT management platform designed for managed service providers and internal IT departments that merges remote monitoring and management with professional services automation into a single product. It delivers device inventory, live health checks, remote control through terminal, file browser, and WebRTC desktop, patch deployment with scheduling windows, script execution across fleets, network scanning, ticket handling, quoting, billing, invoicing, a service catalog, and a client-facing portal. A native AI operator can inspect devices, run diagnostics, carry out fixes, and record what it did, with every step governed by a four-level risk engine that demands human sign-off for risky actions. Outside AI tools such as Claude Desktop or Cursor can also operate the platform through a built-in MCP server using OAuth 2.1. Breeze runs self-hosted via Docker Compose with a guided installer that produces digest-pinned image references and configuration. It depends on PostgreSQL and Redis, with optional S3-compatible storage for backups and a TURN relay that helps remote desktop connections traverse NATs. The agent is a single Go binary that works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The code is AGPL-3.0 licensed with an open-core exception for the ee/ directory.

Should you self-host Breeze?

Breeze scores 47/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #31 of 51 in Monitoring & observability. It has 159 GitHub stars.

It shipped 7 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v0.125.0, came out on 27 October 2026. New versions land roughly every 4 days.

Setup is advanced: plan for several services and some ongoing maintenance. An official Docker image is available. It is AGPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in Typescript.

Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is GoAccess (75/100, 21 091 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See Breeze vs GoAccess side by side.

FAQ

Are there per-device fees or add-on charges?

No. The AI operator, risk engine, and all 64 modules are included in every Breeze deployment with no per-device fees, feature tiers, or add-on upsells.

What license is Breeze under?

Breeze is licensed under AGPL-3.0, a widely used copyleft open-source license. The entire codebase is publicly available and auditable.

Does Breeze integrate with PSA tools?

Yes. Breeze supports third-party integrations through the integrations module, webhooks, and a REST API, and is the first RMM with an MCP server for driving the AI operator from Claude Desktop, Cursor, or ChatGPT.

Is Breeze suitable for MSPs?

Yes. Breeze is built with multi-tenant architecture, partner management, and white-label branding specifically for managed service providers.

Can the AI operator break my clients' environments?

No. The operator runs under the same access controls, permission scopes, and risk guardrails as human staff. The 4-tier risk engine enforces guardrails on every action, and Tier 3 actions always require human approval before execution.

How does the AI operator work?

The AI operator investigates, remediates, and documents endpoint issues instead of waiting for manual dashboard clicks. Every action passes through a 4-tier risk engine: low-risk actions execute automatically, medium-risk require confirmation, high-risk require explicit human approval.

What operating systems does Breeze support?

Breeze supports Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints with a native agent on all three platforms.

Is Breeze really free?

Yes, self-hosted Breeze including the AI operator and risk engine is free forever under AGPL-3.0 with no usage limits or per-device fees.
