helpcodeai/anythingmcpWhat is anythingmcp?
This open-source gateway sits between AI clients and your business systems, translating REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and SQL interfaces into Model Context Protocol tools that assistants can call. Over 529 pre-built connectors cover ERP, e-commerce, logistics, HR, banking, and government platforms — including SAP, Odoo, Etsy, WooCommerce, weclapp, and DATEV — while a visual builder lets you create custom connectors from OpenAPI specs, Postman collections, WSDL files, or direct database connections. The platform provides OAuth2 and legacy authentication, role-based access with per-tool permissions, complete audit trails, and optional single sign-on with SCIM provisioning for major identity providers in the self-hosted Enterprise tier. A knowledge graph automatically maps how entities relate across connectors so agents can chain calls without explicit instructions. Packaged as a single Docker image (Next.js frontend plus NestJS backend) with PostgreSQL and optional Redis, it deploys via Docker Compose, Helm, Railway, or DigitalOcean. The Community edition costs nothing under AGPL-3.0 for up to three users; paid Cloud and Enterprise plans add more users, SSO, SCIM, and support.
Should you self-host anythingmcp?
anythingmcp scores 56/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #14 of 39 in API Gateway. It has 754 GitHub stars.
It shipped 30 stable releases in the past year. The latest, v0.51.5, came out on 28 October 2026.
Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is AGPL-3.0-licensed and written mostly in Typescript.
Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is Kong Gateway (82/100, 44 314 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See anythingmcp vs Kong Gateway side by side.

FAQ
Does AnythingMCP support SSO and SCIM?
Yes, when self-hosted with Enterprise edition. Supports Entra ID, Google, Okta, Auth0, GitHub, or any OIDC provider. SCIM works with Entra ID for automatic provisioning and deactivation. Not available on Cloud.
Can I control who can use which tools?
Yes, users and roles (admin, developer, viewer, plus custom roles when self-hosted) with per-connector and per-tool permissions. Each person gets their own MCP API key.
Is there an audit log of what the AI does?
Yes, every tool call is logged with who called which tool, when, with which arguments, what came back, duration, and success status. Included on all plans including free Community edition.
Where are my credentials stored?
All API keys, passwords, and OAuth refresh tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in the gateway's PostgreSQL database. Only the gateway can decrypt them; the AI client never sees them.
Does it work with on-prem systems behind a VPN or firewall?
Yes, run AnythingMCP self-hosted inside your own network next to the systems it connects. Only the gateway's MCP endpoint needs to be reachable by the AI client.
Can I connect a database directly?
Yes, AnythingMCP connects directly to PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite and MongoDB as MCP tools. Database connectors are read-only by default.
Does AnythingMCP support SOAP, WSDL and legacy systems?
Yes, AnythingMCP parses WSDL and turns each SOAP operation into an MCP tool, including WCF and older enterprise services. WS-Security, basic auth, and TLS client certificates are built in.
Can I build a connector for my own API?
Yes, upload an OpenAPI/Swagger spec, Postman collection, cURL command, or introspect a GraphQL schema to generate draft MCP tools. No code needed.
Are there ready-made connectors?
Yes, the marketplace lists more than 530 ready-made connectors including DATEV, DHL, Personio, weclapp, Shopware, and WooCommerce. Self-hosted instances get the same connectors.
Does AnythingMCP work with GitHub Copilot, Gemini and Cursor?
Yes, all connect through the same MCP URL with an MCP API key in the X-API-Key header. Step-by-step guides are available for each client.
What is the AnythingMCP knowledge graph?
A private map of how connected systems relate — which entities they share and how data flows between them — so agents can link a customer in the CRM to their orders in the ERP without being told how.
What does AnythingMCP do?
AnythingMCP turns the software your company already runs into tools that AI assistants can use by importing OpenAPI specs, WSDL, GraphQL schemas, or database connections, or installing ready-made connectors.
What is an MCP gateway?
An MCP gateway is a single server that sits between AI clients and many backend systems, handling sign-in, tool permissions, and audit logging. AnythingMCP is an open-source MCP gateway that also generates tools from APIs and databases.
What is an MCP connector?
An MCP connector exposes one of your systems (API, database, internal service) as a set of tools that Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot can call. In AnythingMCP a connector is configuration, not code.
What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?
MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Cursor call external tools in a structured way. One MCP server works in every client that speaks the protocol.
