What is storm?

Storm is a modern web interface for the Deluge BitTorrent client, designed to work well on mobile devices where Deluge's own WebUI falls short. It consists of a Go backend that speaks Deluge's RPC protocol and an Angular frontend, packaged as a single binary or Docker image. Users can view torrents, add new ones, filter and sort, and manage their Deluge instance remotely. Storm supports both Deluge v1 and v2 RPC protocols. It can be secured with an optional API key. The project is MIT-licensed and last updated in November 2023.

Should you self-host storm?

storm scores 41/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #6 of 7 in Torrent. It has 167 GitHub stars.

There was no stable release in the past 12 months, so check the repository's recent activity before you rely on it.

Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is MIT-licensed and written mostly in Typescript.

Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is qBittorrent (LinuxServer.io) (67/100, 1 758 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See storm vs qBittorrent (LinuxServer.io) side by side.
