jkirkcaldy/plex-utillsWhat is plex-utills?
plex-utills is a self-hosted utility for Plex Media Server that automates poster management through a web interface. It scans your Plex libraries and adds resolution and HDR format banners (4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 3D) to movie posters and TV episode thumbnails. The Hide 4K feature tags 4K-only movies as untranscodable so remote users on limited hardware won't see them, with an option to trigger Plex's built-in optimizer to create 1080p versions. It can also automatically group Disney and Pixar films into collections. Configuration is done via environment variables (PUID, PGID, TZ) and the web UI, which stores settings in a SQLite database. The project runs exclusively in Docker and supports Linux, macOS, Windows, Unraid, and Synology NAS. It requires a Plex token and works best with TheMovieDB as the metadata agent. The latest release is 0.21.12 (December 2021) with a changelog dated January 2023; the repository was last pushed in October 2023.
