What is Evergreen?
Evergreen is a full-featured Integrated Library System (ILS) used by libraries to manage catalogs, circulation, acquisitions, serials, and reporting. It provides a web-based staff client for library operations and a public OPAC for patrons. The system runs on Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) with PostgreSQL as the database, OpenSRF for messaging, Ejabberd or Redis for XMPP, and Apache as the web server. Installation involves compiling from source or using release tarballs, configuring multiple services, and setting up the database schema. It supports MARC records, authority control, and library consortium setups with multiple organizational units.
