What is Crossnote?
A browser-based Markdown notebook that stores notes as plain files and syncs them with Git repositories directly from the client. No backend server is required — everything runs in the browser using IndexedDB and isomorphic-git. The project is in transition after the original author departed and the backend was closed; a ground-up rewrite is in progress. It functions offline as a PWA and can be self-hosted by serving the built static assets. Licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later.
Should you self-host Crossnote?
