What is AppViewLite?
AppViewLite is a self-hostable ATProto (Bluesky) appview that indexes the firehose independently of the main bsky.app infrastructure. It provides a firehose listener and indexer, a web UI for browsing indexed data, and an experimental XRPC interface compatible with the official TypeScript client. The project emphasizes low resource usage, with firehose indexing consuming roughly 2.2 GB of disk space daily versus ~200 GB for raw firehose data. It supports multiple protocols beyond ATProto including ActivityPub/Fediverse, Nostr, RSS, and imageboards. Configuration uses environment variables with sensible defaults. It runs as a single .NET 9 process or in a container (Docker/Podman) with data stored in memory-mapped columnar storage files. The project is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
