What is Urlaubsverwaltung?

Urlaubsverwaltung (German for 'leave management') is a self-hosted web application for teams to manage absences electronically. Employees submit vacation requests that go through configurable approval workflows with roles like department heads, second-stage approvers, and office administrators. The software tracks overtime balances and sick notes, integrates with calendars via iCal, and supports Single Sign-On through OpenID Connect providers such as Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, and Keycloak. It runs as a Spring Boot application requiring JDK 25 and PostgreSQL 18, deployable via Docker, Docker Compose, or as a standalone JAR. Native mobile apps for iOS and Android provide full functionality on the go. The project is developed by Focus Shift Software GmbH and offered both as a hosted cloud service and as open-source software under Apache-2.0.
