What is seedsync?

SeedSync is a self-hosted file synchronization tool designed for seedbox users. It runs on your local machine (Linux, Raspberry Pi, Windows, or macOS via Docker, or as a deb package on Ubuntu) and connects via SSH to a remote Linux server to download files as they become available. Built on LFTP for high-speed transfers, it provides a web-based dashboard to monitor and control transfers, automatically extracts archives after download, supports auto-queueing with pattern-based filtering, and allows deletion of both local and remote files. The project is fully open source under Apache-2.0.

Should you self-host seedsync?

seedsync scores 46/100 on selfhost.directory (how scoring works) and ranks #10 of 11 in File Transfer & Sync. It has 337 GitHub stars.

There was no stable release in the past 12 months, so check the repository's recent activity before you rely on it.

Setup is moderate: expect some configuration beyond a single command. An official Docker image is available. It is Apache-2.0-licensed and written mostly in Python.

Its closest alternative on selfhost.directory is croc (82/100, 40 794 stars). It scores higher overall, so compare the two before you pick. See seedsync vs croc side by side.
