## Description

Joulenap is a self-hosted web interface and scheduler that automates backing up Proxmox virtual machines to backup servers kept offline most of the time. It wakes backup servers using Wake-on-LAN, runs backup jobs, enforces retention rules with optional garbage collection and verification, then shuts the servers down again. The tool manages multiple PVE hosts and PBS devices connected as routes — supporting fan-in from several PVE hosts to one PBS, and PBS-to-PBS off-site synchronization for a true second copy. Its built-in scheduler means no changes are needed on the Proxmox hosts themselves. Communication with PVE and PBS happens through their APIs using scoped tokens, while a single SSH command handles power-off or suspend for each backup server. Capabilities include per-source guest selection (all guests or an explicit list), flexible retention schedules, real-time log streaming, historical run records with step-by-step timelines, on-demand manual runs, and notifications via Apprise (covering Telegram, ntfy, Discord, email, and 100+ other services). It also works with homelab dashboard tools and provides a Prometheus metrics endpoint for monitoring. The interface is responsive, offers dark and light themes, and supports English and Italian. It runs in a lightweight container (~512 MB RAM) using a single data directory for configuration, SQLite history, logs, and SSH keys. Deployment options include Docker (recommended on a Proxmox LXC), Docker Compose, or a native no-Docker installation. Licensed under AGPL-3.0.
