## Description

GitSave is a self-hosted, open-source application that backs up Git repositories from multiple platforms including GitHub and GitLab. It provides a responsive web interface for scheduling automated backups, choosing how many backup versions to retain, pausing and resuming schedules, viewing backup history, and storing backups on SMB network shares. The application runs as a Docker container and requires JWT_SECRET and ENCRYPTION_SECRET environment variables for security. It uses a built-in authentication system that can be disabled via DISABLE_AUTH. The project is licensed under Apache-2.0 and actively maintained with regular releases.
